Pier Carlo Orizio graduated in piano under Sergio Marengoni from the Luca Marenzio Conservatory in Brescia, while studying composition with Giancarlo Facchinetti. He studied conducting with Donato Renzetti and also attended master classes held by Emil Tchakarov (Venice 1988) and Leonard Bernstein (Rome 1989).
He has conducted over 80 orchestras including the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Russian National Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Belgian National Orchestra and the Camerata Salzburg. With the Prague Philharmonia, he recorded Beethoven’s Concerto n.1 and Schumann’s Concerto n.1 for RAI, soloist Martha Argerich.
He has performed with legendary names such as Mstislav Rostropovich, Salvatore Accardo, Sir James Galway, Mikhail Pletnev, Rudolf Buchbinder, Uto Ughi, Daniil Trifonov. He teaches conducting at the Conservatory of Brescia.
